BANGKOK, March 14 (Xinhua) — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and related tourism industries jointly launched the “Second City Fun Tour” in Bangkok on Monday. The project aims to tap into new tourism resources in Thailand and attract more domestic and international tourists to the country’s second-tier cities.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that Thailand boasts rich tourism resources and diverse cultures, but in the past, tourists were mostly concentrated in first- and second-tier cities such as Bangkok and Phuket. The “Second City Fun Tour” will showcase the unique charm of Thailand’s second-tier cities, including historical sites, natural landscapes, culinary cultures, and the hospitality of local residents.

Yuthasak noted that the project is expected to bring in over 32.49 billion baht (about 6.5 billion yuan) in tourism revenue for Thailand and create more employment opportunities and economic benefits for local residents. Moreover, the activity will promote the optimization and upgrading of Thailand’s tourism industry structure and achieve sustainable tourism development and regional balanced development.

TAT will launch a series of promotional activities and preferential policies, such as recommended travel routes, hotel and restaurant discounts, and cultural experience activities, to attract more visitors. At the same time, Thailand will strengthen partnerships with international tourism organizations and media to enhance the global visibility of Thai tourism.
