**News Content:** Lincang, Yunnan, March 6(Li Yuanlan, Wang Ling) — Reporters have learned from the Nanpeng River Provincial Nature Reserve Management Bureau in Zhenkang, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, that the “animal canteen” built by the bureau in the nature reserve has been well received by wildlife, attracting national first-class key protected wild animals suchas green peafowl and Indochinese gray leaf monkeys to “dine” frequently, and valuable video footage has been captured.
In order to improve the wildlife habitat environment and enrich the food sources for wildlife, the nature reserve management bureau has set up several “animal canteens” in the nature reserve and stocked them with corn, sugarcane, fruits, and other foods favored by wildlife.
Recently, during a patrol, the nature reserve staff found the “animal canteen” to be bustling with activity. A green peafowl strolled leisurely in the “canteen,” pecking at corn kernels. Not far away, a group of Indochinese gray leafmonkeys frolicked in the trees, occasionally jumping down to feed on sugarcane.
The head of the nature reserve management bureau said that the establishment of the “animal canteen” not only provides wildlife with an ample food source but also reduces human-wildlife conflict. At the same time, by monitoring the “animal canteen,” staff can learn about the activity patterns and population changes of wildlife, providing a scientific basis for nature reserve management and wildlife protection.
It is reported that the Nanpeng River Provincial Nature Reserve is an important biodiversity conservation area in Yunnan Province, with abundant plant and animal resources. The nature reserve has recorded 13 species of national first-class key protected wild animals, including green peafowl, Indochinese gray leaf monkeys, and Asian elephants.
