据科技巨头 Meta 的首席技术官安德鲁・博斯沃思透露,Meta 可能在 2024 年展示一款代号为“Orion”的超前 AR 眼镜原型。这款眼镜被寄予厚望,是Meta 对下一代计算平台——增强现实(AR)眼镜的野心之一。虽然已经在全球范围内投入了数百亿美元,但 Meta 仍然希望打造出媲美 iPhone 的革命性产品。

博斯沃思在接受采访时表示,Orion 技术路线的成本高得难以接受,因此要想将其带入普通消费者负担得起的价位和尺寸,还有很长的路要走。不过,博斯沃思也承认,这款眼镜是迄今为止最先进的消费电子设备,可能是人类有史以来生产的最先进的东西。

目前,Meta 已经在 AR 领域深耕至少八年,并投入了数百亿美元。虽然去年该公司宣布放弃 Orion 眼镜的量产计划,改为将其提供给特定开发者,并作为展示未来 AR 技术的样品,但博斯沃思表示,少数 Meta 员工将在明年开始内部测试这款眼镜。

这款 AR 眼镜使用了 microLED 显示屏和碳化硅波导,但据 The Information 的报道,microLED 显示屏仍然无法实现高良率生产,这意味着它们只能以高成本生产少量显示屏。此外,由于 Orion 眼镜使用的硅碳波导材料应用于军用雷达和传感器,其出口受到严格限制,这意味着眼镜必须在美国本土组装,进一步抬高了生产成本。

为了实现 AR 眼镜的实际量产,Meta 计划采用降级组件——LCoS 显示屏和玻璃波导。LCoS 技术虽不如 microLED 先进,但成本更低,可作为过渡方案。此外,量产版眼镜的视场角预计仅有 50° 左右,远低于 Orion 原型的 70° 水平。Meta 的目标是
