New York, NY – Lexar has unveiled its PLAY PRO microSDXC Express card, a high-speed storage solution aimed at gamers and content creators, marking a significant step forward in portable storage technology. The announcement, made yesterday in the United States, has already generated considerable buzz, particularly due to the card’s compatibility with the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console.

The Lexar PLAY PRO microSDXC Express card leverages the SD 7.1 specification, utilizing a PCIe 3.0×1 interface and NVMe 1.3 standard. This advanced technology allows for impressive sequential read speeds of up to 900MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 600MB/s. The card is also backwards compatible with UHS-I and UHS-II host devices, ensuring broad compatibility across a range of devices.

The new storage card is already available for purchase on platforms like JD.com in China, with three versions currently offered, all backed by a limited lifetime warranty:

  • 256GB: ¥689
  • 512GB: ¥1299
  • 1TB: ¥1999

Notably, the 1TB model is currently listed as out of stock, leaving consumers wondering if the initial supply has already been exhausted.

Lexar emphasizes the durability of the PLAY PRO microSDXC Express card, stating that it has undergone rigorous testing to withstand harsh environments. The card is designed to endure 10,000 repeated insertions and removals, as well as the challenges of outdoor use, including resistance to drops, shocks, water, vibration, magnetism, X-rays, and extreme temperatures.

Furthermore, Lexar provides users with complimentary access to Lexar RecoveryTool data recovery software, enabling them to quickly retrieve accidentally deleted files.

The launch of the Lexar PLAY PRO microSDXC Express card comes at a crucial time, with the gaming community eagerly awaiting the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. The increased storage capacity and high-speed performance of the card are expected to significantly enhance the gaming experience, allowing for larger game installations and faster loading times.

The introduction of microSD Express technology represents a significant advancement in portable storage, offering performance levels previously associated with larger form factor SSDs. As devices continue to demand faster and more capacious storage solutions, the Lexar PLAY PRO microSDXC Express card is poised to play a key role in meeting these evolving needs.
