Xi Jinping Calls for Shared Responsibility and Development in a New Era for Asia-Pacific

Xi announced the adoption of a new guiding document for the Asia-Pacific Free Trade Area (FTA), aiming to inject new momentum into the region’s open economy. China, he stated, will continue to deepen its engagement with international high-standard trade rules, expand its own open market, and explore digital and green trade agreements with other nations.
2. Cultivating Green and Innovative Growth Drivers: Xi emphasized seizing the opportunities presented by the new technological revolution and industrial transformation. He advocated for enhanced cooperation in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, quantum information, and life sciences, fostering an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory innovation ecosystem to boost productivity. He stressed the importance of prioritizing ecological protection, resource conservation, and green low-carbon development, promoting a synergistic digital and green transformation. China, Xi announced, will release the Global Initiative on Cross-border Data Flow Cooperation,aiming to facilitate efficient, convenient, and secure cross-border data flow to contribute to high-quality development in the Asia-Pacific.
3. Establishing an Inclusive and Equitable Asia-Pacific Development Philosophy: Xi underscored the need to strengthen economic and technological cooperation, ensuring that the benefits of development are shared by all.He called for a focus on sustainable development goals and inclusive growth, leaving no one behind.
