Honda Unveils the Rugged 2026 Passport: A Bold Statement inOff-Road Capability
IT之家, November 13, 2023 – Honda has just unveiled the all-new 2026 Passport, a mid-size SUV that promises a more rugged, powerful, andboxy design, along with enhanced off-road capabilities. Honda boldly claims this is their most capable SUV yet.
The most striking change in the new Passport is itsexterior design. Gone is the somewhat ambiguous SUV/crossover look of its predecessors, replaced by a sharp, angular, and undeniably tough aesthetic. The new Passport is wider than before, with a 2.75-inch (69.85 mm) longer wheelbase. It boasts prominent wheel arches, a muscular hood, and bold PASSPORT lettering across the front and rear. All Passport models come standard with 18-inch wheels and 31-inch tires.
Honda is also offering a wider range of factory accessories, including side steps, roof racks, and aluminum running boards. The classic fold-down picnic table makes a welcome return.
The TrailSport trim, first introduced in 2022, has undergone a significant transformation for the 2026 model year. While the initial TrailSport version was a mere visual upgrade with plastic cladding, unique colors, all-season tires, and faux skid plates, the 2026 TrailSport and TrailSport Elite versions are a different beast altogether. The skid plates are now real, capable of handling theweight of the entire vehicle. TrailSport models come equipped with General Grabber all-terrain tires developed in collaboration with General Tire, and feature an off-road-tuned suspension. Most importantly, the TrailSport boasts increased ground clearance, a feature missing from previous versions.
While the 2026 Passportboasts a rugged exterior, it remains powered by the familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine. As before, only one engine option is available, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 285 horsepower, a 5 horsepower increase over the 2025 Passport, and 262 lb-ft of torque.
Despite the rugged exterior, the interior remains comfortable and inviting. Honda states that the new Passport offers the most spacious interior of any generation, with 83.5 cubic feet (2.36 cubic meters) of cargo space behind the first row and 44cubic feet (1.25 cubic meters) behind the second row, including a larger, redesigned underfloor storage area. Comfort features include new body-stabilizing seats and a standard 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster that displays information such as altitude, pitch, and roll angle on the TrailSportmodels. The center screen has been upgraded to a 12.3-inch display, supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google app suite. A new Bose sound system is also included.
The 2026 Honda Passport is poised to be a compelling option for those seeking a capable and stylish SUVwith a touch of off-road prowess. Its rugged exterior, enhanced off-road capabilities, and spacious interior make it a strong contender in the competitive mid-size SUV market.
