In a recent Q&A session, Xiaomi Automotive addressed various questions about the SU7 Ultra’s features and specifications. When asked about the possibility of a laser radar-less option, the company stated that the technology is crucial for achieving the car’s street and track positioning, enabling advanced intelligent driving capabilities.
Furthermore, Xiaomiclaims that the impact of the laser radar on performance and range is negligible. The company has implemented a design that minimizes wind resistance and integrates the radar seamlessly into the vehicle’s design.
The SU7 Ultra boasts an impressive 1548PS (1140kW) power output, making it a formidable contender in the high-performance SUV market. Xiaomi has also partnered with leading industry players to develop a bespoke braking system for the SU7 Ultra. This includes carbon ceramic brake discs from Jinbo, a leading domestic supplier of carbon-based composite materials, high-performance calipers from Akebono, and brake pads from ENDLESS, a renowned brand in motorsport.
The company claims that the braking system, which includes six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, delivers exceptional stopping power and heat dissipation capabilities, enabling the SU7Ultra to achieve a 100-0km/h braking distance of just 30.8 meters and maintain consistent braking performance over ten consecutive 180-0km/h stops.
Xiaomi has conducted extensive testing of the SU7 Ultra’s braking system, including low-temperature and high-temperaturetests, as well as track testing at the Nürburgring, ensuring its safety and reliability.
