China’s Visa-Free Policy for South Korea Welcomed by Seoul
Seoul, South Korea – The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed China’sdecision to implement a visa-free entry policy for South Korean citizens, expressing hope that the move will facilitate people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
On November 5th, Ministry spokesperson Lee Jae-seong stated during a press conference that the new policy will make it easier for South Koreans to visit China, potentially playing a significant role in boosting bilateral travel. Increased interaction between citizens of both nations, he added, will contribute to mutual understanding and deepen the friendship between the two countries.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on November1st that it would be expanding its visa-free program to include South Korea, along with eight other countries. The policy, which takes effect from November 8th, 2024, to December 31st,2025, allows citizens of these countries holding ordinary passports to enter China for business, tourism, family visits, or transit purposes for a maximum of 15 days without a visa.
This marks the first time South Korea has been included in China’s visa-free program. The move is expected to significantlyboost tourism and business ties between the two nations.
