Seoul, South Korea – Singer Jessi has been cleared of charges related to an alleged assaultof a fan by her associate, according to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul. The police determined that Jessi did not constitute the crime of harboring orshielding the perpetrator, and decided not to refer the case to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on the early morning of September 29th in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. A fan encountered Jessi and requested a photo, but was verbally abused and physically assaulted by a man accompanying Jessi, who spoke in English. The victim reported the incident to the police, but Jessiand her group quickly left the scene.
The victim subsequently filed a complaint against Jessi, her producer, and others who were present during the assault. The entire incident was captured by nearby surveillance cameras and widely publicized by the media.Jessi’s indifferent attitude of leaving the scene without intervening sparked widespread public outrage.
Jessi later issued an apology, claiming she did not know the assailant. However, subsequent reports revealed intimate photos of Jessi and the assailant, casting doubt on her statement.
The assailant, identified asrapper and producer KOALA, was summoned for questioning on October 11th.
While Jessi has been cleared of legal responsibility, the incident has sparked a heated debate about the accountability of celebrities and their entourages in such situations. The public remains divided on whether Jessi should have intervened to protect thefan or at least reported the assault to the police.
