Yao Ming Encourages Youth: Find Your Passion, Persist No Matter What
Shanghai, China – At the seventh annual Hongqiao International Economic Forum, Yao Ming,founder of the Yao Foundation and vice chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, delivered a powerful message to young people: find your passion, or if you can’t, find something you need, and persist no matter what.
Speaking at the Globalization and Youth Development: Sharing a Brighter Future sub-forum,Yao emphasized the importance of shared interests in fostering youth connections. He highlighted how sports, both traditional and e-sports, bridge the gap between young people, even across different cultures.
Drawing on his recent experience at the Paris Olympics, Yaodescribed the city as a young person’s party, emphasizing that age is merely a number and a youthful mindset is key. He further stressed the role of sports in youth development, stating that it serves as a crucial pathway for exploration, understandingdiverse cultures, and fostering cross-cultural communication.
Yao encouraged young people to engage with the world beyond their screens, emphasizing the importance of real-world experiences. He highlighted the critical role of youth in shaping the future, emphasizing their potential to drive technological innovation, promote cultural exchange, and build a new global order.
The world is vast, and young people always want to see it, Yao said. Globalization, for youth, is perhaps a longing and a creation of a better future.
