Xiaomi Responds to Claims of Inaccurate Water Purifier Filtration Capacity: Dependent onWater Temperature and Quality
Shanghai, China – A recent reportby Shanghai consumer Mr. Bei has sparked controversy surrounding the Xiaomi water purifier. Mr. Bei claims that his two-year-old Xiaomi water purifier, advertised with afiltration capacity of 16,000 liters, has only filtered half that amount in reality. The device also no longer displays filtration data.
In response, a Xiaomi spokesperson told the news outlet澎湃新闻 (The Paper) that the performance of the composite filter PPC is closely related to water temperature and quality. The spokesperson further explained that the water tap’s inability to display datais due to the limited size of the tap when the composite filter PPC is nearing its expiration date. However, users can still access TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) data through the Mi Home app.
Xiaomi currently offers the composite filter PPC for sale, withthe most popular model being the 600G composite filter priced at 199 yuan. This filter features a built-in RFID anti-counterfeiting chip for automatic verification when inserted into the Mi Home water purifier.
Xiaomi emphasizes that the composite filter PPC utilizes high-quality materials for two-stage filtration, effectively removing impurities such as sand, rust, and deeply adsorbing discoloration, odors, residual chlorine, and certain organic substances. This process purifies water quality and improves taste.
Users can monitor the filter’s usage status and remaining lifespan through the Mi Home app and conveniently order replacement filters directly through the app.
While Xiaomi acknowledges the variations in filtration capacity, they maintain that the performance is influenced by external factors such as water temperature and quality. The company also highlights the availability of data through the Mi Home app, providing users with transparency regarding the filter’s performance.
This incident raises concerns about the accuracy of advertised productspecifications and the importance of providing users with comprehensive information regarding product limitations and performance factors. It remains to be seen how Xiaomi will address these concerns and ensure consumer trust in their products.
