Geely Galaxy L6 and L7 Get a New Lease on Life with UpdatedRaytheon Hybrid System

Geely’s Galaxy L6 andL7 models are set to receive a significant upgrade with the introduction of a new generation Raytheon hybrid system, according to recent filings with China’s Ministryof Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The updated models, denoted by the addition of EM-i to their tail badges, will retain their existingproduction bases – L7 in Baoji and L6 in Linhai.

While the exterior design of both vehicles remains largely unchanged, the powertrain receives a major overhaul. The new L6 and L7 will be powered by a1.5L naturally aspirated engine (BHE15-BFN) from Geely’s Extreme Light Bay Technology division, delivering a maximum output of 82kW. This marks a reduction compared to the previous1.5T engine, resulting in a lowered top speed of 180kph from the earlier 230kph.

The electric motor specifications for the new models are yet to be officially disclosed. However, it is anticipated that they will be equipped with the latest P1+P3 dual-motor, single-speed DHT hybrid system, mirroring the setup found in the recently announced Starship 7 (which also appeared in MIIT filings).

A notable change is the adoption of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs for both models. While the L7 will utilize a battery pack fromCATL, the L6 will be equipped with a battery from Honeycomb Energy. Further details regarding the battery capacities and performance remain under wraps, awaiting official confirmation from Geely.

The introduction of the new Raytheon hybrid systemand LFP batteries promises improved fuel efficiency and performance for the Galaxy L6 and L7. With the updated models expected to be released soon, Geely is poised to further solidify its position in the competitive Chinese electric vehicle market.
