The project involved a meticulous examination of all 10,000 stones in the tower, with many requiringcleaning, repair, or replacement.
This restoration project was a major undertaking, but it was essential to preserve this important piece of Dutch history, said Alderman Dennis de Vries, responsible for the project. The towerremained open to visitors throughout the restoration, although access to some areas was restricted.
