National Expressway Toll Exemption for National Day Holiday
October 1st, 2024 – The National Expressway Network will be offering a toll exemption for allpassenger vehicles with seven seats or less (including seven seats) during the upcoming National Day holiday, starting from 00:00 on October 1stand lasting until 24:00 on October 7th. This is a continuation of the policy implemented in previous years, aiming to facilitate travel forcitizens during the holiday.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the toll exemption policy will be implemented based on the time the vehicle exits the toll booth. This means that regardless of the time of entry onto the expressway, vehicles exiting duringthe free period will be exempt from tolls.
Charging Station Load Expected to Surge
Meanwhile, data from the State Grid’s Smart Vehicle Internet of Things platform predicts that over one-third of charging stations at expressway service areas willoperate at full capacity during the National Day holiday. The platform’s data indicates that the peak charging load index for expressway service area charging stations is expected to reach 30% to 35% during the holiday period. This translates to 30% to 35% of all charging stations experiencing full capacity. In contrast, the average charging load index during regular periods is only around 13%.
The anticipated surge in charging demand highlights the growing popularity of electric vehicles and the increasing reliance on charging infrastructure during long-distance travel. This trend is expected to continue as the adoption of electric vehicles accelerates.
Travel Tips for National DayHoliday
With the toll exemption and the expected increase in traffic, travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes to avoid congestion. The National Day holiday is a time for families and friends to travel and celebrate. The toll exemption policy and the increasing availability of charging infrastructure are making it easier for people to enjoy their holidays and explore new destinations.
