San Francisco, August 28, 2024 – Google has announced the release of three experimental Gemini AI models, with the Gemini 1.5 Pro Exp 0827 model making a significant leap in performance, reaching second place in the LMSYS ranking, trailing only OpenAI’s GPT-4o-latest.The announcement was made by Logan Kilpatrick, Google AI Studio Product Director, on the X platform.

The new Gemini 1.5 Pro Exp 0827 model surpasses its earlier experimental counterparts in various aspects, demonstrating notable improvements inprogramming, complex prompt handling, and overall performance. This model is now freely accessible through Google AI Studio and the Gemini API, under the name gemini-1.5-pro-exp-0827.

Alongside the Promodel, Google has also released two other experimental Gemini AI models:

  • Gemini 1.5 Flash-8B: This model is a smaller version of the Gemini 1.5 Flash, featuring 8 billion parameters. It is specifically designed for multi-modal tasks, including high-capacity tasks and long textsummarization.
