Keywords: Medical Insurance Services, Newborns, Convenience
News Content:
August 1, Xinhuanet — The State Council Information Office held an ordinary policy briefing today, where Vice Minister Huang Huabo of the National Medical Insurance Administration (NMIA) stated that the NMIA will enhance public awareness and participation in the “Birth as One Thing” service, aiming to provide more newborn families with more high-quality and convenient medical insurance services while enjoying the convenience of “fewer trips” and “no trips.”
Huang Huabo pointed out that newborns and other key groups are the focus of social attention. In terms of medical insurance enrollment, newborns often face delays in naming, obtaining ID numbers, and registering for a birth certificate, which pose challenges to the existing enrollment system. To address this, the NMIA has been continuously advancing the integration of services for newborn “Birth as One Thing,” continuously optimizing the enrollment process for newborns, and guiding local areas to implement the integrated handling of birth certificates, household registration, and medical insurance enrollment under the “Birth as One Thing” initiative. This is done through offline “one-stop service” and online “one-network service,” minimizing the time and cost for newborn parents to handle matters.
Building on existing efforts, many provinces such as Yunnan, Liaoning, Fujian, and Jilin are also exploring related services such as newborns enrolling in medical insurance with birth certificates and online applications for medical insurance codes, ensuring that newborns are enrolled in medical insurance as soon as they are born, thereby better safeguarding their health rights and interests.
Huang Huabo stressed that in the future, the NMIA will continue to deepen reforms, innovate service models, and increase the publicity of the “Birth as One Thing” service to further raise public awareness and participation in the service, enabling more newborn families to enjoy more high-quality and convenient medical insurance services while enjoying the convenience of “fewer trips” and “no trips.”
