China’s New Economic Momentum: A Glimpse from the 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Summit

Beijing, China – The 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Summit, held in Beijing from August 23rd to 25th, showcased the vibrant innovation landscape and burgeoning new economicmomentum driving China’s growth. The event, attracting over 30,000 participants from over 100 countries and regions, including1,000 global investors and 500 high-tech companies, served as a platform for global collaboration, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities.

The summit’s centerpiece, the GlobalEntrepreneurship Competition, saw a record-breaking participation of 7,406 entrepreneurial projects and 9,700 entrepreneurs from 124 countries. The competition showcased a diverse range of innovative projects, from cutting-edgetechnologies in artificial intelligence and robotics to sustainable solutions in renewable energy and green technologies.

Among the highlights were the Zhi Shen Xing Yi Hao, a reusable rocket model developed in China, a powerful laser system achieving domestic substitution, and a therapeutic robot capable of identifying acupuncture points. These advancements underscore China’s growing prowess inhigh-tech sectors and its commitment to technological self-reliance.

New-Generation Production Force Takes Shape

The summit also highlighted the rapid development of China’s new-generation production force. In July, China’s high-tech manufacturing output grew by 10% year-on-year,with significant increases in production of civilian drones, service robots, and integrated circuits. This robust growth signifies the emergence of a new economic model driven by innovation, technology, and digitalization.

The summit provided a platform for entrepreneurs to connect with investors, showcase their projects, and secure funding. We won second place inthe competition with our autonomous drone system, said Che Jiaxing, founder of Youlian Zhikong. The event has generated a lot of interest from investors and potential partners.

Beijing: A Hub of Innovation

The summit also underscored Beijing’s position as a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. Thecity boasts over 28,300 national high-tech enterprises and an average of 337 new tech companies established daily. The Global Entrepreneurship Competition, launched in 2020, has fostered the growth of 720 winning projects, including 16 unicorn companies and127 specialized and innovative enterprises.

Beyond Beijing: A Nationwide Effort

The summit’s success reflects a broader trend of innovation and entrepreneurship across China. Cities like Shanghai are actively attracting high-level research institutions and fostering development in key industries like integrated circuits, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence.
