Waymo, the autonomous driving subsidiary of Alphabet, has raised a record-breaking $5.6 billion in a heavily oversubscribed Series C funding round, marking the largest funding round ever for the company. This new capital will be used to further expand Waymo’s autonomous taxi service, known as Waymo One.

The funding round was led by Alphabet, with participation from other prominent investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Fidelity, Perry Creek, Silver Lake, Tiger Global, and T. Rowe Price.
