KDE Plasma 6.2, which is scheduled for a stable release in October, has entered its soft feature freeze this week. The focus now shifts to bug-fixing, with KDE developers aiming to reduce the current 301 bug reports, the lowest since 2015, to less than 200 over the next month. KDE developer Nate Graham shared several noteworthy changes in his weekly recap:
- Users can now block apps from inhibiting sleep and the screen lock.
- Newly-installed Plasma widgets are displayed at the top of the grid view and are marked with a New! tag for the first hour.
- The
plasma-apply-wallpaperimagetool now has a--fill-modeoption. - The KDE System Settings Accessibility page has undergone a UI overhaul.
- KDE will introduce a yearly donation reminder popup, which users can opt to disable.
