The Heishui County government of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province announced the discovery of Tan Lei’s body at 12:35 pm on September 5, 2024. After 44 days of relentless search and rescue operations, the remains of Tan Lei were discovered at 11:10 am on September 5, 2024, in the tailwater area of Maoergai Hydropower Station. At 12:35 pm, the body was successfully retrieved from the water. Confirmation revealed that the body was indeed Tan Lei.
