Belarusian Media Reports on Detention of a Japanese Man for Intelligence Gathering
Minsk, Belarus – A Japanese man, identified as Nakanishi Masatoshi, has been detained in Belarus on suspicion of gathering intelligence near the country’s border with Ukraine, according to Belarusian media outlets. In a press conference on September 5, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, Katsunobu Kato, addressed the matter, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens. From the perspective of protecting our nationals, we have arranged for consular visits and are providing all possible support, including contacting relevant parties, Kato stated. We have confirmed that he does not have any apparent health issues at the moment, he added, noting that the government will continue to offer assistance.
