Five Cities in Guangdong and Guangxi Sign Framework Agreement for Forest Fire Emergency Rescue Cooperation

Guangzhou, August 29 (Xinhua) – To further enhancecross-regional forest fire emergency rescue capabilities and jointly address the challenges posed by forest fire risks, the Guangdong Provincial Forest Fire Prevention Office and the Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region Forest Fire Prevention Office held a signing ceremony for the Two Guang Five Cities (Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Yunfu, Wuzhou,and Hezhou) Forest Fire Emergency Rescue Cooperation Framework Agreement in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, on August 28.

Officials from the Guangdong and Guangxi Forest Fire Prevention Offices (Emergency Management Departments) and Zhaoqing City attended the ceremony,along with key officials from the emergency management bureaus of the five cities in Guangdong and Guangxi.

The Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department highlighted that strengthening cross-border forest fire early warning and prevention, as well as joint response, is a practicalaction for both Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in promoting ecological civilization. It is also a crucial step in deepening cooperation in emergency management and jointly building a safety line. This agreement signifies the establishment of a more robust and efficient cooperation mechanism among the Two Guang Five Cities in forest fire emergency rescue, providing a solid institutional guaranteefor effectively addressing cross-regional forest fire challenges and protecting the safety of people’s lives, property, and the ecological environment.

The agreement outlines a comprehensive approach to collaboration, including:

  • Information Sharing Mechanism: Establishing a platform for real-time data exchange on forest fire risks, weather conditions, and resourceavailability.
  • Joint Command Mechanism for Forest Fire Suppression: Coordinating efforts and resources to effectively manage and extinguish forest fires.
  • Joint Forest Fire Suppression System: Implementing standardized procedures and protocols for coordinated response to forest fires.
  • Joint Investigation Mechanism for Forest Fires: Conducting thorough investigations into the causes and circumstancesof forest fires to prevent future incidents.

The Two Guang Five Cities will leverage this agreement to deepen cooperation, expand areas of collaboration, and innovate mechanisms. This collaborative effort aims to enhance cross-regional forest fire emergency rescue capabilities, enabling timely and effective response to forest fires in the bordering areas of the five cities. This initiative will contribute to the protection of green resources and drive the high-quality development of both provinces.

The signing of this framework agreement marks a significant step towards strengthening regional collaboration in forest fire prevention and response.
