Its nickname, 江南 of the Frontier, alludes to its lush greenery and picturesque landscapes. In August, the city was alive with vibrant hues, with the Aksu River meandering through verdant fields. The field trips aimed to showcase the remarkable achievements of Aksu in areas like aid-Xinjiang work, cultural tourism, rural revitalization, and industrial development.

A Treasure Trove of Agricultural Innovation

The Aksu Experimental Forestry Farm’s National Walnut and Jujube Seedling Base, spanning 60 acres, was designated as a national seedling base in 2009. This resource hub, focused on jujube cultivation, boasts a collection of 624 jujube varieties, including rare and valuable ones like the Millstone Jujube, Teapot Jujube, and Gourd Jujube.The base also houses a diverse range of other fruit trees, including apricot, plum, peach, cherry, plumcot, and ginkgo, totaling 37 varieties.

This comprehensive collection has made the base a vital resource for jujube breeding and improvement, attracting visitors from across Xinjiang and mainland China for observation,learning, and seed selection.

Aksu’s Agricultural Success Story: The Dinosaur Egg

At the Aksu Fengjin Modern Agricultural Development Company, located 25 kilometers from the Linhai community in the Hongqipo area, workers were busy harvesting the Dinosaur Egg, a unique varietyof apricot-plum hybrid. This company cultivates 2,000 acres of land, with 1,600 acres dedicated to apple cultivation, including popular varieties like Red Fuji, Venus Golden, and Wanglin. The remaining 400 acres are dedicated to the Dinosaur Egg, known forits large size, sweet taste, and crisp texture. The company’s success with this unique fruit has opened up new markets and boosted local income.

Aksu’s unique geographical location, blessed with abundant water resources, has sculpted a diverse landscape that seamlesslyblends the grandeur of the desert with the tranquility of lakes and the beauty of lush gardens.

The Aksu National Wetland Park, situated on the upper reaches of the Dolang River, is a testament to the city’s commitment to environmental conservation. Spread across 5,000 acres, the park plays acrucial role in sediment deposition, water conservation, water purification, pollution degradation, and maintaining the ecological balance. The park offers a stunning visual spectacle throughout the year, with vibrant blooms in spring, a riot of colors in summer, golden hues in autumn, and a pristine white blanket of snow in winter. Recognized for its beautyand ecological significance, the park was awarded 4A-level scenic spot status in 2019.
