News Content: On the romantic Qixi Festival in early August, Jinjiang City’s Wengtou Village hosted a special event, the “Returning to Motherland, Narrating Hometown Feelings” Cross-Straits Qixi Carnival and Reunion. The event attracted 30 pairs of cross-strait couples, who celebrated this festival of love together, showcasing the warmth and harmony of cross-strait families.

Wengtou Village, due to its unique geographical advantage, has become the closest point between mainland China and Taiwan, and a model for cross-strait marriages. Since 2010, the village has held the Cross-Straits Returning to Motherland Festival every two years, aiming to promote communication and integration between cross-strait marriage families. This year’s event was themed “Qixi ‘Family’ Year, a Happy Night for the Two Sides of the Straits,” attracting many cross-strait couples.

At the opening ceremony, Taiwan singer Xiong Tianping and mainland singer Yang Yang, who is also a wife, jointly performed on stage, sharing their love story that spanned the sea. Xiong Tianping expressed that although they were separated by the sea, their bond was deep, and they cherished each other even more. Yang Yang believed that cross-strait marriages, while challenging, brought different life interests and creative inspirations.

Wu Ya Hong, a “Wengtou Bride” from Taiwan, and her family also participated in this return festival. They had not returned to the mainland for six years and took the opportunity of the festival to reunite the whole family and enjoy a rare moment of family happiness. Wu Ya Hong said that being able to return to her motherland and feel the warmth of her family was a priceless experience.

In addition, many “Wengtou Brides” chose to return to their hometowns to start businesses. The Hong Mingliang couple is one of them. They shared their experience of running a bed and breakfast in Jinmen and hoped to promote cross-strait exchanges in the homestay industry, contributing to the development of their hometown’s tourism industry.

The evening carnival and reunion party was divided into three chapters, featuring story sharing by cross-strait couples, singing, and interactive games, allowing participants to experience the sweetness of love and the warmth of family. The singing of Hokkien songs by cross-strait singers filled the venue with hometown sounds, bringing closer the distance between compatriots on both sides of the straits.

This event not only showcased the happy life of cross-strait marriage families but also served as a bridge for cross-strait cultural exchanges. Through such reunions, the emotional ties between the people of both sides of the straits were deepened, and a contribution was made to the promotion of cross-strait integration and development.
