Content: According to a report by China News Service, the Guangdong Provincial Comprehensive Maritime Law Enforcement Team recently announced that the team deployed the Chinese maritime surveillance vessel 9068 during the period from August 5th to 9th to participate in the third joint maritime law enforcement patrol by the provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan. During this operation, the three provinces dispatched a total of 40 ship missions, 548 law enforcement personnel, and 3 drone missions, with a total flight time of 143 hours and a distance of 1,497 nautical miles. A total of 64 ship observations and 114 vessel inspections were conducted, with 17 vessels found to be in violation of regulations and 1,300 meters of illegal fishing gear confiscated. The joint patrol mission was successfully completed.

During the operation, the patrol teams from the three provinces sailed from Hainan Island to the West to the Hainan Linggao waters, then turned north along the western coast of Leizhou Peninsula, and proceeded to the Beihai waters of Guangxi through the Weizhou Island. Along the way, they patrolled sea-cage aquaculture areas, offshore wind farms, submarine cables, and marine ecological protected areas. In addition, blockade and ship checks were conducted in key areas such as Linggao, Qishui in Guangdong, and Beihai in Guangxi, and maritime surprise enforcement actions were carried out to severely punish “three-nothing” (no registration, no license, no crew) fishing vessels and illegal modifications and fishing activities. The safety measures such as the navigation, fire-fighting, and life-saving equipment of fishing boats, as well as the compliance of crew members with certificates, were also inspected.

This year, the three provinces have conducted three joint maritime law enforcement operations, with a total of 228 ship missions, 1,393 law enforcement personnel, 12 enforcement vehicles, 13 drone missions, 313.5 hours of flight time, and 3,087 nautical miles traveled. A total of 160 ship observations and 482 vessel inspections were conducted, with 50 vessels found to be in violation of regulations and 1,300 meters of illegal fishing gear confiscated. This has effectively maintained the marine resources and ecological environment in the waters bordering the three provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan and in the Beibu Gulf.

In the future, the maritime law enforcement teams of the three provinces will continue to implement regular joint patrols and law enforcement operations to severely combat various maritime and fishing violations in the inter-provincial border areas and the Beibu Gulf, providing a strong guarantee for the high-quality development of the marine economy.
