According to a report by China’s State Oceanic Administration, China’s self-developed ocean cable towing seismic exploration equipment \”Haijing\” system, equipped with the \”Ocean Oil 720\”深水 survey vessel, recently completed its first ever seismic exploration operation in ultra-deep waters, and released the first ever 3D map of ultra-deep sea. This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in the research and development of key technologies for deep-sea oil and gas exploration in China.

It is understood that the \”Haijing\” system, with its high sensitivity, high resolution, and strong resistance to interference, can conduct comprehensive detection and evaluation of the seafloor, sub seafloor, and geological structure in ultra-deep waters. The successful implementation of this operation in ultra-deep waters will lay a foundation for China’s future deep-sea oil and gas exploration and development.

The 3D map of ultra-deep sea released with this report detailed the topography, geological structure, and features of the seafloor in ultra-deep waters, providing an important reference for the government and relevant departments, to optimize the layout of deep-sea exploration, development, and protection.
