Xi Jinping Emphasizes Steadfast Pursuit of Goals in Fujian Inspection

Xiamen, October 16 (Xinhua) – General Secretary of the Communist Partyof China Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping emphasized during his recent inspection of FujianProvince that the province should deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the20th Central Committee, comprehensively implement the new development philosophy, adhere to the general work principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, and remain steadfast in its pursuit of building a new Fujian characterized by vibrant mechanisms, excellent industries, prosperous people, andbeautiful ecology. Xi urged the province to continue making greater progress in accelerating the construction of a modern economic system, playing a greater role in serving and integrating into the new development paradigm, taking bigger strides on the new path of exploring the integrated development of theTaiwan Strait, achieving greater breakthroughs in creating high-quality lives, further deepening reforms across the board, comprehensively promoting high-quality development, and striving to be a pioneer in building Chinese-style modernization.

From October 15 to 16, Xi, accompanied by Fujian Provincial Party Secretary Zhou Zuyi andGovernor Zhao Long, visited Zhangzhou, Xiamen, and other locations, conducting in-depth investigations and research in rural areas, red education bases, cultural heritage protection units, and free trade zones.

On the afternoon of the 15th, Xi first visited Dongshan County in Zhangzhou City. The county’s southeastern Chencheng Town’s Ao Jiao Village is surrounded by the sea on three sides. In recent years, it has forged a new path of village revitalization and strengthening through the sea. Xi walked to inspect the Ao Jiao Bay’s marine environment and village appearance, inquiring in detail about the trading of dried seafood andfish catches. Upon learning that many seafood products were selling well and villagers’ incomes were steadily increasing, Xi expressed his delight. He said to the villagers and fishermen who gathered around him, I visited your village 23 years ago, and I still remember it vividly. It’s heartwarming and inspiring to see thesignificant changes in the village this time. The new era and new journey will surely bring even brighter prospects for rural areas, and farmers will enjoy a more vibrant life. Village-level Party organizations must play a leading role in guiding villagers to make the most of the ‘sea,’ forging ahead on the path of rural revitalizationand common prosperity.

Subsequently, Xi visited the Gu Wenchang Memorial Hall, learning about the moving deeds of Comrade Gu Wenchang, listening to introductions about the local efforts to carry forward the red gene, and engaging in cordial exchanges with teachers and student representatives from the Gu Wenchang Cadre College. Xi pointed out that thekey to measuring a cadre’s performance is to see whether they have a good reputation among the people. Cadres at all levels should learn from Comrade Gu Wenchang, establish a correct view of performance, serve the people well during their tenure, work diligently and persistently, and build their monument in the hearts of the people. Learning from Comrade Gu Wenchang requires not only looking up to him with admiration but also striving to emulate him in our conduct and governance.

At the Guan Di Cultural Industry Park, Xi listened to a briefing on the local efforts to strengthen cultural heritage protection and development. He emphasized that cultural heritage protection is an important part ofpromoting cultural prosperity and national rejuvenation. He urged the local authorities to continue to protect and utilize cultural heritage well, tell the stories of Chinese culture well, and make greater contributions to promoting cultural confidence and national cohesion.

Xi’s inspection of Fujian Province highlights the importance of adhering to a long-term vision and unwaveringcommitment to achieving the goals set out in the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. His emphasis on twisting the target without loosening it, drawing a blueprint and sticking to it underscores the need for sustained efforts and continuous progress in building a modern socialist China.
