Museums Become New Favorites for National Day Cultural Tourism

This National Day holiday, cultural tourism has become the choice of many tourists. In Jilin Province, numerous museums have implemented various measures to enhance visitor experience, including enriching exhibition formats, adding tour guides, and extending closing hours. These efforts allow tourists to explore the pastand present within the museums, gaining insights into China’s long history and rich culture through the artifacts.

At the Jilin Provincial Museum, many familiesare enjoying their holiday by visiting the museum. Among the exhibits, the national treasure Hundred Flowers Diagram has attracted a large number of visitors. On the thin silk, countless flowers bloom – Shouchun flower, Changchun flower, lotus… some are beautifully delicate, while others symbolize auspiciousness. Beyond the meticulous and realistic brushwork, the uniqueness of this Hundred Flowers Diagram lies in its exquisite copywriting – each flower is paired with a poem.

The Hundred Flowers Diagram lacks any inscription on the calligraphy and painting sections. Experts speculate that it was created by Yang Jieyu, a female painter during the Southern Song Dynasty, though her real name remains unknown. However, it is the earliest documented work by a female painter, making it highly valuable. The exhibitcurrently on display is a replica, while the original artifact is kept in the Jilin Provincial Museum’s precious calligraphy and painting collection.

CCTV reporter Wang Yaping introduced another artifact related to flowers – a pair of vases. While the Hundred Flowers Diagram conveys a delicate sentiment, the vases played a crucial role intransmitting important documents. During the Japanese puppet regime’s reign of terror, Zhou Jianhua and his wife hid party documents and leaflets within these vases, concealing them with fresh flowers to deceive the enemy. They risked their lives to deliver medicine to the South Manchurian guerrillas and received and transferred leaders of the Communist Party of Manchuriato carry out anti-Japanese activities in Jilin Panshi and other areas. In 1963, Yan Qinglian donated the pair of vases to the Jilin Provincial Museum.

During the National Day holiday, the Changchun Film Studio Site Museum launched the Movie Car Party exhibition, showcasing vehicles that appeared in numerousChangchun Film Studio productions. Among them, the Dodge Jeep, Willys Jeep, and GAZ 51 truck used in films like The Founding of a Republic and The Battle at Lake Changjin have attracted visitors to take photos and reminisce.
