巴蜀春风 美美与共: Sichuan Provincial Cultural Center BringsCulture to the Mall
Chengdu, China – As the autumnbreeze sweeps across Chengdu, ushering in the seven-day National Day holiday, the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Center has launched a vibrant initiative titled 巴蜀春风 美美与共 (Bashu Spring Breeze: Beautiful Together). This unique program, running from October 1st to 7th, takes cultural experiences directly to the heartof the city, transforming the bustling Florence Town shopping mall into a hub of artistic expression.
7 Days, 7 Ways to Engage:
The Bashu Spring Breeze event offers a diverse range of activities, each day showcasing a differentfacet of cultural engagement. From lively Zumba dance parties to intimate candlelit concerts, from hands-on sweet-making workshops to immersive environmental theater, the program promises a week-long celebration of artistic beauty.
A Buzz of Activity:
On the opening day, the 边走边跳·Zumba自由舞派对 (Dance as You Walk: Zumba Free Dance Party) drew a large crowd to the mall’s central plaza. Lead dancers guided participants through energetic routines, with many eager to join in and receive commemorative cultural souvenirs.Over 1000 people have signed up online to participate in the volunteer activities, shared a staff member, and today we have over 230 volunteers here.
Li Chong, a Sichuan cultural and tourism volunteer, explained their role: Our main responsibility is to organize the activities, maintain order, and ensureeveryone’s safety. We started preparing materials a week ago and arrived yesterday to set up the venue.
Families were also drawn to the event. My son is 9 years old and in fourth grade, said Mr. Tan, He’s been dancing for almost two hours. He started in thegroup dance and then got picked to dance in the center. He loves this event, and it also helps him earn social practice points for school.
Art on Display:
Beyond the dance floor, a captivating exhibition of 120 paintings by artists ranging in age from 4 to 93 years oldfilled the second floor of the mall. The artists included local residents, villagers, and students, showcasing a diverse tapestry of artistic talent.
Expanding Cultural Reach:
This is the first time we’ve brought the Cultural Center into a shopping mall, explained Liu Wei, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Center’s Cultural and Tourism Volunteer Service Center. We chose this location because of its high foot traffic, allowing people to experience our cultural services while shopping. We want cultural services to be like water, flowing without boundaries, open to everyone, and successfully building artistic environments in every setting.
The event organizers are acutely aware of thechallenges of hosting such a large-scale program in a bustling commercial environment. Safety is our top priority, emphasized Liu Wei. The mall’s high population density and complex environment require careful planning and execution.
A Vision for the Future:
The Bashu Spring Breeze initiative represents a bold step towardsmaking cultural experiences accessible and engaging for everyone. By bringing cultural programs directly to the heart of daily life, the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Center aims to inspire a deeper appreciation for the arts and foster a vibrant cultural community.
