He further emphasized the importance of being prepared for future disasters, stating, To be ready for the increasingly frequent and severe disasters across the nation, we must spare no effort in implementing disaster prevention and mitigation measures.
The ceremony also featured a speech from Nakamura Toshio, who lost his mother in the earthquake. Nakamura represented the bereaved families and expressed his commitment to never let the pain of the disaster be forgotten. We have lost precious things due to the earthquake, but as survivors, we must join forces and carry on the will of everyone, Nakamura said.
The solemnity of the occasion was further underscored by the act of participants laying flowers at a designated altar, symbolizing their grief and respect for the lives lost.
