WeMo Scooter Expands to Taichung, Set to Enter Tainan NextMonth

Taiwan’s popular scooter-sharing platform, WeMo Scooter, hasofficially expanded its services to Taichung, marking a significant milestone in its growth strategy. The company, which already operates in Taipei, New Taipei, and Kaohsiung, is set to launch in Tainan next month.

To celebrate its arrival in Taichung, WeMo has partnered with the renownedDajia Mazu Temple, offering limited-edition commemorative charms. The company also unveiled its Island-Wide Longitudinal Line service, enabling users to rent and return scooters at 17 train and high-speed rail stations across Taiwan.

The Island-Wide Longitudinal Line service operates on a collaborative rental and return station model, allowing riders to conveniently rent scooters upon exiting train stations. Users can locate available scooters through the WeMo app, but are required toreturn the scooter to the original rental station. Failure to do so will result in a surcharge ranging from NT$500 to NT$2,000.

  • Hsinchu High-Speed Rail Station
  • Miaoli High-Speed Rail Station

  • Douliu Train Station
  • Yunlin High-Speed Rail Station
  • Chiayi Train Station
  • Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station
  • Hualien Train Station (two locations)
  • Taitung Train Station
  • Pingtung Train Station

Beyond the expansion into Taichung and the upcoming launch in Tainan, WeMo has also announced several exciting promotions. From August26th to September 30th, riders who complete a trip in Taichung or at any Island-Wide Longitudinal Line station will be eligible to participate in daily events, including:

WeMo Fly, the company’s second-generation scooter model, has also made its way to Taichung. This upgraded model boasts an enhanced battery capacity and a convenient reverse gear, offering a more comfortable riding experience.

WeMo Scooter’s pricing structure is based on usage time. The first six minutes cost a fixed rate of NT$18,while subsequent minutes are charged at NT$3 per minute. It’s important to note that ride time is calculated in seconds, meaning that a ride lasting 9 minutes and 1 second will be charged for 10 minutes.

In a further boost to its growth, WeMo has secured the support of TaiwanMobile, becoming a part of the EV100 electric vehicle ecosystem. Starting September 1st, all new subscribers, renewals, and port-in users of Taiwan Mobile’s 4G service will receive a two-month free trial of WeMo PASS.

WeMo’s expansion into Taichungand Tainan marks a significant step towards its goal of becoming the leading scooter-sharing platform in Taiwan.
