Chengdu, China – The passion for football in Chengdu shows no signs of waning as the city’s eleventh National Fitness Movement football competition and the 2024 Chengdu Urban Football League kicked off recently at the Chenghua District’s Chengdong Sports Park. Amidst the sweltering heat, an impressive 48 teams from various sectors including education, healthcare, technology, and services participated, marking the event as one of the largest amateur football tournaments in the country.

The first edition of the tournament was held on April 20, 2007, at Chengdu University, initially divided into the Chengdu Urban Football First Division and Second Division. In 2016, the First Division was renamed to the Super League, while the Second Division was upgraded to the First Division. Subsequently, a new Second Division was added, establishing a stable three-tier competition structure.
