China’s Vice Chairman of CPPCC Visits Chinese Traditional Medicine Clinic in Cambodia
Phnom Penh, Cambodia – On August 28th, local time, Liang Zhenying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) clinic at the Kosamak Chinese-Cambodian Friendship Hospital in Cambodia. The clinic is operated by the third batch of the Chinese Medical Aid Teamto Cambodia, which was established by Sichuan Province. York Sambath, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Health, accompanied Liang on his visit.
Liang was briefed by Chen Honglin, the leader of the Chinese Medical AidTeam, on the team’s work and living conditions in Cambodia. The third batch of the medical team, comprised of eight members from four provincial TCM medical institutions in Sichuan, is the first national-level TCM medical aid team sent by SichuanProvince. Their responsibilities include providing daily medical services at the Kosamak Chinese-Cambodian Friendship Hospital’s TCM clinic, conducting outreach clinics, and safeguarding the health of Cambodian citizens and overseas Chinese. They also organize academic exchanges and training sessions to promote TCM culture.
During the visit, Liang toured the clinic’sexamination rooms and pharmacy, gaining insights into the current operating conditions, patient treatment, medication, and billing procedures. He expressed his approval of the team’s efforts in promoting TCM-appropriate technologies while simultaneously working to introduce Chinese patent medicines into Cambodia.
Liang commended the third batch of the Chinese Medical Aid Team for their achievements, urging them to continue upholding the spirit of enduring hardship, dedicating oneself, saving lives and healing the wounded, and boundless love, characteristic of Chinese medical aid teams. He encouraged them to actively serve the local population and ensure the health and safety of Chinese nationals in Cambodia. He emphasized the importance of theircontributions to fostering friendship between China and Cambodia and building a joint China-Cambodia health community.
The visit highlights the growing role of TCM in international healthcare cooperation. China has been actively promoting TCM globally, sending medical aid teams to various countries and establishing TCM centers abroad. The presence of a Chinese Medical Aid Team inCambodia demonstrates China’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of people in developing countries, while also promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
The Kosamak Chinese-Cambodian Friendship Hospital, a symbol of the strong bilateral relationship between China and Cambodia, was built with Chinese aid. The hospital provides a wide rangeof medical services to the Cambodian people, and the TCM clinic is a testament to the growing popularity of TCM in the region.
Liang’s visit underscores the importance of healthcare cooperation between China and Cambodia. It is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relationship and promote the development of TCM in Cambodia.
