China’s Wholesale Agricultural Product Price Index Remains Steady
BEIJING,Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — China’s Wholesale Agricultural Product Price200 Index remained stable on Monday, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The index, which tracks the prices of 200 key agricultural products, stood at 131.05 on Monday, unchanged from the previous day. The vegetable basket product wholesale priceindex also remained flat at 133.85.
The stability of the index comes amid a period of generally stable agricultural product prices in China. While some prices have fluctuated, the overall trend has been one of moderation.
Pork Prices Rise Slightly
On Monday, the average wholesale price of pork in China reached 27.51 yuan per kilogram, up 0.1% from the previous day. Beef prices rose by 0.5% to 61.19 yuan per kilogram, while mutton prices fell by 0.1% to 58.98 yuan per kilogram.
Egg prices also increased by 0.2% to 10.71 yuan per kilogram, while the price of dressed chicken decreasedby 0.1% to 17.59 yuan per kilogram.
Vegetable and Fruit Prices Up
The average price of 28 key vegetables monitored by the ministry rose by 0.3% to 6.12 yuan per kilogram, while the average price of six key fruitsincreased by 1.4% to 7.32 yuan per kilogram.
Fish Prices Mixed
Prices for some fish varieties saw slight changes. The price of crucian carp fell by 0.6% to 21.28 yuan per kilogram, while carp prices decreased by 0.4% to 14.73 yuan per kilogram. However, the price of silver carp rose by 0.1% to 10.09 yuan per kilogram, and the price of large belt fish increased by 0.1% to 40.81 yuan per kilogram.
Top Price Movers
Among the 46 key varieties monitored in China’s fresh agricultural product wholesale markets, the top five price gainers on Monday were green peppers, pineapples, onions, pears, and celery, with increases ranging from 2.4% to 4.2%.
Thetop five price decliners were lotus root, cucumbers, large yellow croaker, zucchini, and ginger, with decreases ranging from 1.1% to 2.0%.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has been actively working to stabilize agricultural product prices and ensure adequate supplies. Theministry has implemented a range of measures, including increasing production, improving market regulation, and strengthening price monitoring.
These efforts have helped to maintain stable prices for agricultural products, benefiting both producers and consumers. The ministry will continue to monitor market conditions closely and take necessary measures to ensure the stability of agricultural product prices.
