According to data submitted tothe National Assembly’s Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee by Incheon International Airport Corporation and Korea Airports Corporation on Aug. 23, the number of passengers traveling to and from Japan via domestic airports in the first 20 days ofthis month reached 1.385 million, up 20.8% year-on-year and 6.3% month-on-month.
Since Japan resumed visa-free entry in October 2022, the number of Korean passengers traveling to Japan has been steadily increasing. Even during the Japanese government’s “major earthquake” warning period (August 8-15), the number of passengers traveling to Japan via domestic airports reached 558,000, a year-on-year increaseof 26.8%.
