##韩外长助理郑炳元访问老挝，推动两国关系发展
**韩联社首尔8月22日电** 韩国外交部22日表示，外交部次官补（部长助理）郑炳元当天拜会了老挝副总理兼外长沙伦赛·贡马西，双方就两国关系、韩国—东盟合作等事宜交换了意见。
郑炳元在会谈中提议双方紧密合作，推动韩国和东盟以今年10月举行的“韩国—东盟峰会”为契机建立全面战略伙伴关系。他还就朝鲜近期发起一系列挑衅行为以及朝俄间非法军事合作的动向表达了担忧，呼吁老挝作为2024年东盟轮值主席国发挥积极作用，推动10月东盟系列峰会释放明确且坚决的对朝信息。
沙伦赛表示，老挝支持韩半岛实现无核化，并支持各方落实联合国安理会涉朝决议。老挝将作为主席国，全力做好相关工作。
此次访问是韩国政府为加强与老挝关系，并推动韩国—东盟合作而进行的最新举措。韩国与老挝在经济、文化等领域一直保持着良好的合作关系。近年来，两国在基础设施建设、农业合作等方面也取得了积极进展。

**Seoul, August 22 (Yonhap)** – South Korea’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Jeong Byeong-won, visited Laos on Tuesdayand met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith to discuss bilateral relations and Korea-ASEAN cooperation.
During the meeting,Jeong proposed close cooperation to advance the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between South Korea and ASEAN, taking the upcoming Korea-ASEAN Summit in October as a catalyst. He also expressed concern over North Korea’s recent provocations and the illegalmilitary cooperation between North Korea and Russia, urging Laos, as the 2024 ASEAN Chair, to play an active role in sending a clear and resolute message to North Korea during the ASEAN Summit series in October.
Saleumxay expressed Laos’ support for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions related to North Korea. Laos, as the Chair, will make every effort to carry out relevant work.
This visit is the latest initiative by the South Korean government to strengthen relations with Laos and promote Korea-ASEAN cooperation. South Korea and Laos have maintained good cooperation in the fields of economy and culture. In recent years, the two countries have made positive progress in infrastructure construction and agricultural cooperation.
Jeong is also scheduled to attend the 12th Korea-Mekong Business Forum and the ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) and East Asia Summit High-Level Meeting during his visit to Laos.
