**Keywords:** AI Award, Brain Science, Chen Tianqiao
**News Content:**
The Tianqiao & Chrissy Chen Institute (TCCI) and *Science* magazine have jointly announced the launch of the “InternationalAI-Driven Science Research Award,” aiming to recognize young scientists worldwide who have made groundbreaking advancements in scientific research using artificial intelligence technology. The establishment of this award marksa further deepening of Chen Tianqiao’s layout in the AI+science field and signals the arrival of the era of AI-driven scientific research.
The award is open to young scientists (within 10 years of receiving their PhD) globally who have made significant breakthroughs in the field of natural sciences (including life sciences and physical sciences) using AI-related technologies. Participants are required to submit a paper of approximately 1,000 words outlining their research findings. The grand prize winner and the runner-up will receive $30,000 and $10,000 respectively, along with a 5-year free subscription to the digital edition of *Science* magazine. All winning papers will be published in *Science*.
Luo Qianqian, founder ofTCCI, stated that the award was established to encourage more young scientists to participate in the wave of AI-driven scientific research. She believes that for young scientists at the beginning of their careers, publishing in top academic journals is of paramount importance. She hopes this award will help some achieve their dreams.
Yury V. Suleymanov, Senior Editor of *Science* magazine, expressed his excitement, stating that he anticipates these findings being utilized by other researchers globally and serving as a source of inspiration for generating groundbreaking scientific research using artificial intelligence.
It is noteworthy that the Chinese name of the award, “AI-Driven Science Award,” was personally chosen by Chen Tianqiao. He believes that compared to words like “promoting” or “facilitating,” “driving” better reflects AI’s role as a powerful engine providing inexhaustible impetus for scientific research. It is more accurate and conveys a stronger sense of power.
Chen Tianqiao’s layoutin the AI+science field has been ongoing for some time. As early as 2020, TCCI began collaborating with *Science* magazine to host high-end international forums on brain science, covering topics such as brain-computer interfaces and artificial intelligence. In November 2024, the twoparties will co-host the first international academic forum on artificial intelligence and mental health in Shanghai, China.
Furthermore, TCCI has launched the “MindD Project,” funding Chinese scientists to build high-quality brain science datasets. They have also recruited a group of outstanding AI scientists and engineers to research how AI can assistbrain-computer interfaces in decoding the mysteries of the brain, enhancing public mental and psychological health, and slowing down cognitive aging.
Chen Tianqiao expressed his hope that in the future, there will be an increasing number of AI scientists among Nobel Prize laureates, and even that AI itself may one day become a recipient ofa scientific award.
The establishment of the “International AI-Driven Science Research Award” not only reflects Chen Tianqiao’s confidence in the future development of the AI+science field but also serves as an encouragement and support for young scientists worldwide. It is believed that in the future, more and more young scientists willdedicate themselves to AI-driven scientific research, bringing about more groundbreaking achievements for human society.
