On this special day, August 16, the Lhasa-Rikaze Railway celebrated its ten-year anniversary. On the C885 train heading from Lhasa to Rikaze, a young boy from Rangzhi County, Rikaze, named Danzeng Lunzi, was excitedly sharing how his family’s life has changed. He said that since the introduction of high-speed trains, his life has become unprecedentedly convenient, whether it’s for his studies or visiting relatives. Danzeng Lunzi’s high school years were spent in Lhasa, and thanks to the high-speed trains on the Lhasa-Rikaze line, he was able to return home once a month, a convenience that was unthinkable in the past.
Similarly, couple Migmar and Awobam, from Zagor County, Tingri County, Rikaze, first traveled to Lhasa to work last year on the “Fuxing” high-speed trains. Seventy-one-year-old Lobton Tsug, another beneficiary of the railway, shared that he came to Lhasa to visit his daughter and spent the Shoton Festival there. Lobton Tsug was moved by the beautiful scenery of Rikaze in August and kept praising the Lhasa-Rikaze railway with “yagudu,” indicating his satisfaction and comfort.
Dawa, the station master of Rikaze Railway Station, introduced that over the past decade, the Lhasa-Rikaze Railway has grown from two pairs of slow trains a day at its opening to five pairs of “Fuxing” high-speed trains now. The railway’s opening not only promoted the local economy but also made people’s travel more convenient and significantly improved their living standards.
The ten years of the Lhasa-Rikaze Railway have witnessed the development of transportation in Tibet and the growing closeness of ties between Tibet and the mainland.
