ECNS, June 19 – According to the official WeChat account of the Ministry of Water Resources, as the lower reaches of the Yangtze River officially enter the Meiyu season, a battle against flood prevention has already quietly begun. Recently, the Ministry of Water Resources initiated a level IV emergency response for flood prevention in Anhui and Hubei provinces to face the upcoming heavy rain weather.

According to meteorological department forecasts, from June 19 to 22, Hubei and Anhui provinces will experience heavy to torrential rain. Parts of central and eastern Hubei, as well as southern Anhui, will be hit by heavy downpours. Affected by this rainfall, the Qingjiang River, the four waters in the east of Hubei, the Fuhan River, as well as the main streams and tributaries in the upper and middle reaches of the Huai River in Anhui, will face severe water level challenges.

Faced with this serious situation, the Ministry of Water Resources has promptly initiated an emergency response mechanism to carry out preventive work. Currently, local governments and water resources departments are closely monitoring weather changes, conducting real-time monitoring of reservoir and river water levels, strengthening patrols and duty work to ensure that risks can be quickly handled if any occur. At the same time, for areas that may be affected, personnel evacuation and material transfer work has been carried out in advance.

This emergency response not only reflects China’s rapid response capabilities in flood prevention and control but also demonstrates a high sense of responsibility for people’s lives and property safety. The Ministry of Water Resources calls on local residents to pay close attention to weather changes, take personal protection measures, and work together to fight this battle against flood prevention and control.
