CHANGCHUN, May 18, (Xinhuanet) — “Your mother has not fulfilled her educational responsibilities towards you, which is a matter of great regret… As you grow into adulthood, I hope you will not forget that your mother was sacrificed for the country!” These were the words written by the martyr Zhao Yiman to her son during the Anti-Japanese War. Ninety years later, the original of this letter, along with the original letters of anti-Japanese heroes like Yang Jingyu and Ma Zhan Shan, were first exhibited in Changchun, drawing numerous citizens to view them.
The “Northeast Red Family Letters” exhibition, organized by the Changchun Municipal Propaganda Department and the Changchun Cultural Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, aims to pass down the red gene and promote patriotic spirit. Over 50 red family letters were displayed, covering the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, and the Korean War, with authors including high-ranking military officers, underground workers, ordinary soldiers, and their families.
These letters, written by red heroes to their loved ones, are真实 and touching, brimming with longing for family and loyalty to the revolutionary cause. They are not only testimonials to red history but also a valuable asset to red culture.
At the exhibition site, descendants of anti-Japanese heroes like Zhao Yiman and Yang Jingyu also attended, visiting these red letters with deep sentiment. They expressed that these letters further deepened their understanding of their ancestors’ noble spirit. Chen Yexian, grandson of Zhao Yiman, said, “These letters are very shocking to us descendants. We must carry forward the red gene, never forget our original intention, and faithfully fulfill our mission.”
The exhibition serves as a timely reminder to deepen the study of Party history, enhance the spiritual civilization construction, and foster a strong sense of national identity among the people, contributing to the comprehensive construction of a socialist modern country.
The exhibition will last for one month, allowing more citizens to learn about and reflect upon the historical significance and spiritual wealth contained within these red family letters, thus inspiring greater patriotic sentiment among the general public.
