Liuzhou, March 8 (China News Service) – In the Liujutun Village tea oil plantation in Rong’an County, Liuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, over 1,500 tea oil saplings were planted with the concerted efforts of local ethnic groups on March 8, marking a new attempt atpoverty alleviation in the area.

Tea oil, also known as “Oriental olive,” is rich in oil and can be pressed into high-quality edible oil, holding significant economic value. In recent years, with the growing awareness of health, tea oil has gained popularity in the market due to its nutritional value and environmental friendliness.

Guangxi, located in the subtropical zone, enjoys a climate suitable for tea oil cultivation. Liujutun Village in Rong’an County is a multi-ethnic enclave where villagers have traditionally relied on planting staple crops, resulting in limited income. In recent years, the local government has actively explored new paths toindustrial poverty alleviation, introducing tea oil plantation projects and encouraging villagers to develop the tea oil industry.

“Tea oil trees have a long growth cycle, but they offer good economic returns and have broad market prospects,” said Wei Jianhua, Party Secretary of Liujutun Village. Currently, the village has planted over 1,000 mu (165 acres) of tea oil, which is expected to enter a period of high yield in the coming years, bringing a bountiful harvest to the villagers.

To help villagers master tea oil cultivation techniques, the local government has organized expert training sessions, guiding villagers in scientific planting and management practices. It has also actively coordinated funding, providing villagers with planting subsidies and technical support.

“In the past, we only planted traditional crops such as corn and rice, which didn’t generate much income,” said villager Wei Guohua. “Now that we’re planting tea oil, we can not only increase our income but also improve the ecological environment, killing two birds with one stone.”

The development of the tea oil industry has not only boosted the local economy but also promoted ethnic unity. In the tea oil plantation, people from various ethnic groups work together, contributing to the revitalization of the countryside.

“The development of the tea oil industry has improved our lives significantly,” said Wei Jianhua. “In the next step, the village will continue to expand the scale of tea oil planting and explore the development of the tea oil deep-processing industry, making the tea oil industry a pillar industry for rural revitalization.”
