Beijing, January 13 – China South-to-North Water Transfer Group Co., Ltd announced at its 2024 work conference held on the 12th that the water transfer task of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project in 2023 has been exceeded. This news marks a major breakthrough in China’s water resource allocation work.
It is understood that the South-to-North Water Transfer Project is one of China’s largest water conservancy projects, aiming to solve the severe water shortage problem in North China. The project is divided into three routes, namely the eastern, central and western lines, among which the Midline Phase I and Eastern Phase I are the two main routes.
In 2023, the Midline Phase I successfully transferred 7.41 billion cubic meters of water, exceeding the annual plan by 112%. This achievement is due to the precise planning and scientific management of the Chinese government, as well as the hard work of engineering and technical personnel.
At the same time, the Eastern Phase I also transferred 850 million cubic meters of water to Shandong, providing a strong guarantee for the water resources supply in Shandong Province. In addition, the Eastern Line Northward extension project also transferred water to areas north of the Yellow River, further alleviating the water resources pressure in this area.
China South-to-North Water Transfer Group Co., Ltd said it will continue to adhere to the people-centered development concept, take technological innovation as the lead, improve the operation efficiency and service level of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, and make greater contributions to ensuring China’s water resources security and sustainable and healthy social and economic development.”
