据36氪报道，腾讯旗下游戏《王者荣耀》的直播版权即将向抖音平台开放。据悉，接近抖音游戏直播的人士透露，“最新消息是大概 1 月 20 号就开放王者荣耀了，虽然不是百分百确定，但年前肯定会开。”另据一腾讯相关人士表示：“ 已经谈得差不多了，但是一直拖，可能有些手续还没搞好。”
此前，腾讯曾以涉嫌侵犯《王者荣耀》著作权为由将今日头条公司及其母公司字节跳动诉至广州知识产权法院。2019 年，法院认为腾讯有充足证据证明西瓜视频 App 有直播《王者荣耀》的行为，最终裁定相关公司自 2019 年 1 月 31 日停止直播《王者荣耀》游戏。
抖音游戏直播早在 12 月份就划分了组别，王者荣耀、英雄联盟等版块均已确定相关负责人员，并且相关人员已与一些大直播公会、MCN 机构开始对接相关事宜。据IT之家了解，腾讯《王者荣耀》与抖音直播的冲突还要追溯到 2016 年。
