China has launched a world’s longest and largest-diameter underwater high-speed railway tunnel shield machine, which will be deployed in the construction of Yongzhou Railway. The shield machine, named “Dinghai No.1”, is composed of more than 100,000 components, with a diameter of 14.57 meters for the cutter head, a total length of about 135 meters, and a total weight of about 4,350 tons, making it 8 times heavier than a conventional shield machine.
