BEIJING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) — China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated President Tshisekedi on his re-election in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). At a regular press conference on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning extended congratulations to Tshisekedi and wished him success in his second term.
Mao Ning said that the successful completion of the election in the DRC represents the continuous progress and maturation of the country’s democratic system. He praised Tshisekedi for leading the DRC to achieve positive results in the past few years, and emphasized that China is willing to deepen friendly cooperation with the new DRC government in various fields, to assist the DRC’s economic and social development, and to benefit the people of both countries.
