On this day 20 years ago, China successfully developed high-performance computer chip “Loongson”. Over the past two decades, Loongson has achieved remarkable development and accomplishments.
Loongson adopts MIPS reduced instruction set architecture and receives patent authorization from MIPS Company. The first generation’s speed is 266MHz, starting from 2002. Longson 2.0 has the highest speed of 1GHz. Longson 3 was launched in 2010, further enhancing its performance.
The development and application of Loongson have promoted the development of China’s computer technology and contributed significantly to the country’s informatization construction.
