On October 4th, the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences announced that the 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to three scientists for their contributions to the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots. Quantum dots are an essential part of the \”toolbox\” of nanotechnology, with their unique properties allowing them to play a crucial role in television screens and LED lights. Quantum dots can not only catalyze chemical reactions but also provide light for surgeons to illuminate tumor tissue. Currently, researchers mainly use quantum dots to create color light, believing that in the future, they could contribute to flexible electronic devices, micro-sensors, thinner solar batteries, and cryptographic quantum communication.
