The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai has once again showcased the latest and greatest in global innovation, offering a glimpse into the future of living. From small but beautifulto high-tech and cutting-edge, a wide array of products and services related to clothing, food, housing, and transportation were on display. Thisyear’s CIIE highlighted four key new trends: new products, new technologies, new scenarios, and new styles, all pointing towards a future of greater convenience, sustainability, and personalized experiences.

New Products: UnveilingNew Choices for Everyday Life

The CIIE has become a platform for global premieres, with numerous products making their debut in Asia or even the world. In the innovation incubation zone, a crowd gathered to try out a pair of smartpower shoes called Moonwalker, a product of Shun Motion Technology. These shoes, resembling sandals, allow users to walk at 2.5 times the speed of an average adult, offering a glimpse into a future of faster and more efficient movement.

New Zealand’s Fonterra, a CIIE veteran,unveiled its 4.0 A2 full-chain low-carbon milk, a product designed to meet growing consumer demand for sustainable and healthy options. Fonterra also debuted a 4.0 high-protein, high-calcium, multi-vitamin milk powder specifically formulated for individuals over 50.

GE Healthcare,with the largest number of global and China premieres in its history, showcased seven global and ten China premieres, including the SIGNA MAGNUS magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. This cutting-edge technology allows for brain imaging at a level of detail previously unattainable, offering a significant advancement in medical diagnostics.

The homeand lifestyle sector also saw a surge in new products. Shiseido introduced over 30 new products from its 12 brands, while Ai-Kair unveiled its GCX XE air purifier, designed to tackle heavy indoor air pollution with its fast and long-lasting formaldehyde removal capabilities.

Wang Wei, former director of theInstitute of Market Economy at the Development Research Center of the State Council, believes that the CIIE’s focus on new product launches will stimulate consumer spending and fulfill people’s aspirations for a better life.

The CIIE has become a magnet for innovation,with numerous cutting-edge technologies on display. Wearable exoskeletons, transforming users into superhumans capable of effortlessly lifting 50kg, are a testament to the potential of robotics in augmenting human capabilities. Smart glasses, providing real-time data during cycling and enabling voice-activated photography, translation, andcommunication, are a glimpse into the future of interconnected living.

The AI experience zone, upgraded to version 3.0, offered a futuristic experience with three robots collaborating to hold 12 glasses of wine. The robots’ precision movements, avoiding contact with the glasses, demonstrate the increasing sophistication of robotics and their potentialin various industries.
