In a Telegram post on November 3rd, Kovalenkostated that Google Maps’ latest satellite imagery exposed the deployment of Ukrainian military assets. He specifically pointed to a photograph taken on September 28th, 2023, showing a crater located just 50 meters away from aPatriot missile battery near Kyiv’s Zhuliany International Airport.
Google has published the latest pictures on the map, which show the deployment of our military systems (I won’t specify which ones), and the Russians are alreadyactively disseminating these images, Kovalenko wrote. He further expressed his concern, stating, We contacted them (Google) to resolve this issue as soon as possible, but it’s their weekend now.
Kovalenko’s concerns were echoed by Russian media outlets, with the weekly newspaper Arguments and Factsciting a Telegram post from November 1st that featured the same Google Maps imagery.
