Nothing, the tech company known for its transparent designs andunique features, has unveiled its first community-designed product: the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition. This limited-edition smartphone, inspired byfireflies and boasting a phosphorescent finish, will be available for purchase on November 12th, with only 1,000 units produced.
The phone, priced at £399 (approximately $470), is the culmination of a six-month project that involved over 1,000 ideas from users in 47 countries. The design, acollaborative effort between community members Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki, features a unique glow-in-the-dark effect. The phone’s back panel, adorned with a pale green finish, emits a bright green light in the dark,without needing a battery and without the need for an external light source.
Beyond the luminescent design, the Community Edition also includes six custom wallpapers designed by Andrés Mateos and a reflective, glow-in-the-dark packaging designed by Ian Henry Simmonds.
